How are Lips Fillers used?
Lip fillers are used to increase the plumpness of the lips. The procedure is minimally invasive and does not require surgery. It is completely customizable according to your aesthetic goals.
If you would like to correct and even out the shape of your lips, the fillers will be injected at specific areas to reshape your lips. However, not everyone benefits from having fuller, wider, and plumper lips. Your facial anatomy and overall features need to be taken into account, and your doctor will advise the amount of filler required to achieve your ideal lips while still looking like your natural self.
If you have dry and lined lips, lip fillers also supply moisture to your lips by stimulating your skin to produce more collagen.

How does a Lip Filler Procedure Work?
Our doctors will assess your facial structure and discuss your aesthetic goals before the treatment. During the initial assessment, you will also be briefed on the nature of the fillers, longevity of the fillers, their potential side effects, and what to expect during the procedure. Our doctors will also gauge your pain tolerance to ensure you do not feel any discomfort during treatment.
Before starting on the procedure, the injection sites on your lips will be cleaned and disinfected before a numbing cream is applied and left on to settle. After the numbing cream is washed off, our doctor will clean the area with an alcohol wipe before using a fine needle to inject the fillers into your lips. Finally, the injected areas will be cleaned and lip ointment applied to reduce swelling and bruising.
The entire procedure usually takes 5 to 10 minutes.

FAQ On Lips Fillers
It depends on the type of lip filler used. In general, most lip fillers last between 6 months to a year, as the lips are the more active and mobile part of your facial features.
You may notice redness, swelling, mild bruising and some transient needle marks right after the procedure. However, these side effects are temporary and should subside after a couple of hours.
Lip fillers are made up of hyaluronic acid, and it is a natural substance produced by our body. It is found largely in the skin, connective tissues, and eyes. Hence, hyaluronic acid is perfectly safe and does not cause any adverse reactions in the majority of people.
Avoid firm pressure on the lips after the procedure. Keep icing your lips with an ice pack for the rest of the day. If you have sensitive skin and are prone to bruising, stay away from alcohol and blood-thinning medications for 48 hours.
Results are immediately visible after the procedure but subtle. Lip fillers usually take a week to stabilize and set into the skin, hence you should also avoid activities that may displace the fillers.
You should wait at least 2 weeks for the fillers to settle in before getting a facial or other face treatments.
